How to Record StripchatVR with CaptureGem

Download CaptureGem for Windows, macOS or Linux and open the desktop app. Use the latest version of CaptureGem.

A model's VR room link looks like https://vr.stripchat.com/cam/model_username. Their VR username is the same as their regular Stripchat username, and it's the last part of the link.

On the Record tab, choose StripchatVR under Select Website first. Then type the model's username, or paste their vr.stripchat.com room link, into Enter URL or Username in the Add Stream panel.

Stripchat and StripchatVR use the same web addresses. A link pasted while another site is selected adds the model as regular Stripchat, which records the flat (non-VR) stream, so check that StripchatVR is still selected before you click Add Stream.

Leave Monitor Only switched off so the stream is saved, then click Add Stream.

If the model is live in a public VR show when you add them, recording starts straight away. Keep CaptureGem open while it records in the background.

The StripchatVR site records public shows only. The saved file's name ends in _F120_LR, which tells VR players it's a side-by-side fisheye video.

When a recording ends, CaptureGem processes it into a finished video file. Long recordings can take a little while.

• Open the Review tab to play, trim, tag or delete the recording, or click Open Video Folder on the Record tab.
• Recordings are saved as MP4 files by default.
• With Premium, each file is up to 60 minutes long by default, and auto-record starts the next file straight away.
• The save location, the file length (Cap Video Segments at Duration (Minutes)) and the file container can all be changed in Settings.

• Free: saves up to 5 minutes per recording and lets you add up to 10 models. A model is recorded when you add or start them while they're live, so if they were offline, start the recording again later.
• Premium: removes those limits and adds auto-record. Select the model on the Record tab, choose Modify Auto Record under Actions, then pick Record Always. CaptureGem then records whenever the model comes online and restarts after a disconnect. Compare plans.
• To auto-record every model you add from now on, turn on Auto Record All Newly Added Models in Settings (Premium).

The Monitor tab shows live previews of everything you're recording.

VR recordings are side-by-side MP4 files whose names end in _F120_LR: a 120-degree fisheye picture with the left-eye and right-eye views next to each other.

Any VR video app that can open files from your computer can play them. In HereSphere (available on Steam), open the advanced settings, choose Fisheye and side-by-side (SBS), set the field of view to 120 degrees, and set the aspect ratio to auto so the picture isn't stretched.

• Saved the flat stream instead of VRThe model was added as Stripchat rather than StripchatVR. Add them again with StripchatVR selected, and remove the Stripchat entry if you don't want flat recordings.
• Public VR recording doesn't startCheck that the model is in a public show and broadcasting in VR by opening https://vr.stripchat.com/cam/model_username with their username. If Stripchat is blocked on your network, the settings in the Stripchat guide help here too, because StripchatVR uses the same settings.
• Recording not in Review yetWait for processing to finish, and check your output folder in Settings and that you have enough free disk space.

If a recording keeps failing, update CaptureGem, check that the stream plays in your browser, and ask in the CaptureGem Discord community. Premium members can also send a failed recording to support.
